Mary Nicoll, LPC
I specialize working with Veterans, Active Duty Military Service Members, First Responders, Medical Professionals and their loved ones. I also work with adults who are navigating transitions: life, spiritual, employment, peri/post-natal and parenting, personal identity and belief systems. You do not need to be a Veteran, First Responder, or Medical Professional to contact me.
Most of my life and professional experience has been supporting military service members in some way, whether as the sister of a 2-tour Iraq Veteran, the daughter of a Vietnam-era Veteran, the former wife of a US Marine, or simply as a friend. I have served the Military and First Responder communities through volunteer work, interning at the Boulder Vet Center, working on a specialized Veterans Services clinical team, and now through my private practice.
My path aligned in my early twenties when I found myself the only female and the only civilian amongst my brother and his Army buddies while living off-post at Fort Hood in Texas. As they poured Hennessy, they opened up, sharing combat stories, photos, personal struggles, deep spiritual insights and dark inside jokes. At times, it got graphic, real and raw and I realized I felt the most comfortable in that privileged space. I knew then I wanted to serve by supporting transitioning Veterans and realized I should probably do this in a healthier way...maybe without the Hennessy.
I see being a therapist as a lifestyle. I have to practice what I preach. So I am devoted to my own personal work, which includes exploring many alternative therapies, yoga, shamanic work, spiritual practices and other ways to best resource myself. It is common knowledge in my profession that you can only go as deep with your clients as you have traveled within yourself.
I feel most energized when helping people cultivate the deep, internal power they possess to help them live in their highest integrity, fully aligned with what they value most. I believe in the brilliant resilience of people and support my clients in meeting and moving through their traumas. When you meet me, I hope you will quickly sense that I love my work and feel honored to serve in this way.

Drawing from a mix of evidence-based and non-traditional healing modalities, I believe in curating specific care for you, not one-size-fits-all treatment. You can look forward to creative support through somatic (body-based), experiential, and traditional approaches, including mindfulness, cognitive, trauma-focused (EMDR) and nature-informed treatments. It is important to me that you leave feeling heard, respected and guided toward action.
Let's work together to help you find relief with:

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. We can work together to help you create or recover the motivation, perspective and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic events. Anxiety, fear, lack of control, hopelessness, loss of identity and changes in world-view are a few that can linger. I'd like to help you learn alternatives to living out of the trauma response and guide you through the process of grieving to retrieve or to reinvent the parts of you that feel scattered.
Your experience is a normal reaction to extreme, out-of-the-ordinary experiences. That may be hard to take in, since maybe nothing about what you're going through feels "normal" to you right now. And it's true. Believe it or not, your body and mind are miraculous and have worked in your favor to protect you in the best ways they knew how. You are likely tired of these reactions and are growing out of them. Our work together will help you understand why your system gets hijacked and how to best support yourself before, during and after so you can regain some control and rewrite your story.
Relationships are challenging. It is hard to know when to move closer, when and how to have boundaries, how to express your needs, how to call in the community that is most aligned with you. And healing cannot happen in a vacuum. While your health is in many ways up to you, it helps to build and maintain meaningful relationships with folks that support you when you struggle and hold you to your highest integrity.
You may find you feel outside of things, perhaps even outside of yourself, your family, your purpose. Maybe you have recently had a big experience you'd like support in synthesizing. I am here to help you better understand what you are going through to discover the signs and support all around you.
Look at yourself, and I mean deep in there, at all of the parts of you.
You are miraculous. Your life is precious. You have innate health coursing through you.
I say these things knowing that you may have just rolled your eyes. And that is exactly why we should meet. You have forgotten just how important you are in the scheme of things. What if you are essential to the world? What if you are not a coincidence and that the gifts unique to you are ready to be realized?
You are finely and artistically designed and you require consistent attention, care, and resources emotionally, spiritually, energetically, mentally and physically.
So let’s start paying attention together.
